ANSU demands immediate eviction of illegal Assam construction at Taraso
ITANAGAR, Apr 18: All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) has demanded Arunachal Pradesh Government to immediately evict all the Forest Protection Camps being set up by Assam Forest Department within Taraso administrative circle of Papum Pare district.
An ANSU team headed by its president Byabang Joram and general secretary Nyanya Gollo yesterday visited Taraso circle and found Assam Forest Department constructing one Forest Protection Camp at Julang village area within Taraso circle. The ANSU team along with the Taraso Circle Officer made a joint effort to halt the construction activity through dialogue and discussion but their efforts went in vain as there was no positive response from the Assam Forest officials, said ANSU in its memorandum to Chief Secretary.
The construction work is being carried out by Assam forest officials with help of police and paramilitary forces.
The student union also informed that the Sonitpur (Assam) Deputy Commissioner (vide letter No. SPD/Forest/253/2011/12 dtd 11/02/2014) had submitted to the Government of Assam the model plan and estimate for construction of four Forest Protection Camps at Radhasu Point, Dikal Tinali, Chouldhowa Road Point and Naharjan under Behali Reserve Forest and the proposal has already been granted by the Government of Assam (vide order No. PLA 475/2010/127 dtd 25/02/2014) at an estimated cost of Rs.19 lakh per camp. The project is being executed by Assam Forest Department under RFO Sonitpur East Division, it claimed adding that all the four camps fall within Taraso administrative circle.

ITANAGAR, Apr 18: Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) East Siang Unit in a letter to Deputy Commissioner, East Siang district said that the reported mysterious death of a young teacher while performing Government duty at Siine village under Boleng circle is very disturbing and confusing. Such type of heinous crime if at all committed should be unearthed and stringent and exemplary punishment should be awarded.
The ABK district unit appealed to the District Administration to immediately set up a committee to look into the circumstances and take up this case on priority basis which led to the loss of a human life. It also said that free and fair trial should be initiated and the culprit should be booked on an early date so that the confusion which is looming large is cleared at the very beginning as delay in action might send some kind of wrong signal which might hamper the existing peaceful environment.
The ABK district unit assured to provide all cooperation to the District Administration for unearthing the truth behind the mysterious death of a young official on Government duty and this should be the first case of this kind where an innocent and an efficient official has lost his life in poll related case. It also said that ABK, District Unit on its own will also try to find out the actual cause which led to the loss of a human life and will share any kind of information to the District Administration so that the fact can be made known to everyone.
Body of missing official brought to Pasighat, magisterial enquiry underway
PASIGHAT, Apr 18: After identification by the family members, the body of late Mathew Dabi (Assistant Teacher) has been brought to the General Hospital, Pasighat late this evening. A pall of gloom has descended as the mortal remains of Dabi being brought to Pasighat.

GSU suspects foul play
ITANAGAR, Apr 18: Suspecting foul play in the death of Mathew Dabi, Galo Students’ Union (GSU), in a letter to state election commissioner, has demanded to set up a judicial inquiry into the matter.
Dabi, who was engaged in poll duty at Siine village under Boleng circle, went missing on April nine. His body was recovered by police from a gorge near the village yesterday.
Further, the GSU demanded the state election authority to take stringent action against those responsible for assaulting DRDA PD (Seppa) Kego Jilen beside bearing the entire medical, expenditure and adequate compensation to the injured.

Boycotting the simultaneous polling on April 9 last, Sisen from nowhere at least caught the national attention, as their unique way of protest over poor development in the village has sparked off debate. It has also broadened the perception of political pundits and egging new ideas into sniffing journalists of the national and local dailies.
Indeed, boycott is a symbolic protest and their slogan “No road No vote” was an “acrimonious pill” which the villagers have been waiting for since many decade to spit it out right at their political leaders and the election commission’s face. They have sent a clear message to the authority particularly those who are at helm of affair that the villagers will no longer be a part of choosing leadership and government formation process, wherein they get nothing in return.
Their demand is genuine and simple for basic facilities such as road connectivity, better school buildings, uninterrupted electricity and hygienic drinking water supply which every modern citizen of a country aspires for.

Literally Sisen becomes battle ground of “blame game” as the political parties and leaders are astutely passing the buck. The BJP state unit termed the boycott of polling as a slap to democracy and alleged that ruling Congress has failed to fulfill people’s aspirations. In the process, the saffron party has forgotten that former MP of East Parliamentary Constituency was from BJP who could have at least raised the demand.
When contacted local MLA Tapang Taloh claimed that he has done enough for the area in the developmental front and alleged that the boycott was politically motivated.
“Boycott was politically motivated led by Pazing who is a BJP sympathizer, so he is instigating the innocent villagers,” charged Taloh.
Meanwhile, Pazing has refuted the allegation and clarified that he has no political affiliation to any party.
In fact the reason for boycotting the poll is obvious that people apparently do not want ‘political patting’ any more nor lips service from the authority, rather need practical development in the village. The boycott itself is reflective in nature, it does not show loyalty to any parties; be it the ruling Congress and the principal opposition BJP or alternate party PPA. It is said abortive attempts were made by the political parties to win back the villagers with huge cache of money but Sisen does not budge.
Interestingly fuelling the turn of events, the district election officer (DEO) registered FIR against the agitators under section of 186/187 of IPC (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), declaring the protesters as defaulters.
The DEO’s move of filing FIR though not for boycotting the poll was akin to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s attempt to pass law seeking compulsory voting way back in the fag end of December 2009. According to Modi’s proposal, those who abstain from voting would be declared as defaulter. Thanks to then Governor Kamla Beniwal who sent back the bill on the ground that the legislation violates the Constitution and she objected to punishment clause for those choosing not to vote. Imagine! What would happen to our Bollywood actors and cricketers who normally evade voting, if the act passed?
Sources in Pasighat informed that district authority is taking every possible step to pacify the agitated villagers to persuade them into polling booth. Even it went on to claim that the villagers have agreed to cast vote. However according to our sources they are still stand firm on their decision but agreed to allow the polling team to come at village.
If voting is a constitutional right, isn’t it moral responsibility of the state government and local representative to redress the needs of its own people?

Every Govt. employee should be treated equally
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the news item published in today’s edition of your daily under the headline ‘Govt. approves time bound promotion to MOs and specialist doctor’. It is noteworthy step.
But I would like to draw the attention of the government and babus of the state that there are departments like statistics where people are sincerely serving state government but they have no time bound promotions, inspite of their low salary. The statistic department termed as backbone of the planning department by many, has no such regards in real sense. Officials have been sincerely delivering their duty for the last 25 years and yet no sign of promotion anywhere. The officials go to superannuation without any promotion in their lifetime. Where is the incentive to work hard here? The government should provide equal opportunities to all it’s official and officers in equal term. Everybody should get time bound promotion irrespective of the department they belong to.

Forest fire major cause of concern
Every year, forest fire around capital complex causes massive loss of forest cover. Once known for greenery, the beauty of capital complex has taken severe beating in recent time and major cause is attributed to forest fire incidents. The hills surrounding capital complex looks pale in absence of forest. As per the record available with forest department maximum number of forest fire incident around capital is caused due to human negligence. Many a time fires lit nearby house or garden goes on to cause major damage.
On April 15 night forest fire in the adjoining area of Dariya Hills and right bank across Sanki River lead to colossal loss of forest cover. The environment and forest department took serious note of incident and held emergency meeting to chalk out immediate plan to control the fire. As a result joint team of field executive staff was formed and directed to rush to the spots and take measures to contain the situation. The patrolling team was also put into service with necessary instructions both for controlling the forest fire and apprehending the offenders involved in causing such incidences in and around the capital complex. The steps initiated by environment and forest department are appreciable. However it should be implemented in true sense and should not remain as media hype.
